About Jan L. Gordon

No matter where I am, my inspiration comes from a moment that touches me visually, spiritually, and emotionally. Sometimes it’s one of those, sometimes it’s all three. My attention is immediately drawn to a vision, like a painting, I can actually see it as I snap away. For me, it’s all about connection to people, places, and things, and being completely present with no distractions.

My sense of adventure and wanderlust, combined with a love of photography and curiosity about other cultures, has become the latest chapter in my life.

I have always been drawn to old cities.  My love of architecture, fashion, cuisine, and the very soul of a new city raises my energy level.

I look at it like an enormous buffet of experiences, and every trip I take, I get to sample and capture the essence of another way of life through my lens. The best part is sharing it with others. I’m hoping that my images will 1. Evoke a beautiful memory 2. Give people ideas for their next trip 3. Invite those who will never get there to have a feeling of what’s it like. I prefer to bring the happier times in life through my work to balance all the chaos in the world even just for a moment. The private messages, emails, texts, and hugs from people telling me how much they appreciate these moments are really why I do this.

They say we don’t remember days, we remember moments. I’m grateful to have a wealth of memories, and I’m only just getting started.

The amazing people I’ve met all over the world through sharing my photos has been such a gift. Some of them have become lifelong friends.
